Well, this Lenten break is proving productive. I'm getting a chance for a long overdue rest and to reorganize priorities.
In the meantime, however, I made an earth-shaking discovery about my middle son. This is the same goofy, dreamer son who makes homeschooling a nightmare for me by dragging out every assignment as long as possible.
Today, Kipp was watching a rerun of MacGyver, when he suddenly pops up with this brilliant insight: "Mom, I love MacGyver because he always waits till the last moment to solve the problem."
*ARGH!!!*
So, does anyone know of any shows where the main characters use complex problem solving but pride themselves in solving the conflict well before the end of the show??

Ha ha! You do have a challenge on hand, LOL
Unfortunately I do not know if there are any shows that solve problems well before the show:) Try the Numbers shows, and some mystery shows(many I would think not suitable for kids?) and also maybe competition based ones...like the discovery challenge or DIY based shows??
I would think math problem solving competitions based movies like Hard Problems http://www.zalafilms.com/hardproblems/hardproblems.html would be something to see, but it is not directly related to finishing a task on time...
I hope you find some solution. Good to see you back here!
Subadra
*LOL* Good to hear from you as always, Subadra!
Thanks for the thoughts on the shows. I will check them out. Doesn't it seem like each child presents his or her own unique set of challenges? Nothing is easier the second or third time around.
As for being back, thank you. One of the things I keep going over in my mind is if I should just give up my blog. I genuinely enjoy writing it, but I have such problems with consistency. It is physically and emotionally draining to raise and homeschool three overly active, clever boys, run a home and work part time. I have great plans for
posting, but I just wear out. The Lenten break has been nice because I gave up the "guilt" of feeling I was failing to post. Once the guilt is gone, though, I miss posting. And there have been a few posts where I thought I might have helped others, which really matters to me. Sorry to ramble on, but it's nice you missed me. :)
I realized the same thing about Dr Who recently! Why does he always wait till the final moment to get all excited (well, more excited than he normally is anyway) and "problem solvy"...but that's where the excitement lies doesn't it? :) Shows that Time Lords wait till the 11th hour too...so why shouldn't we?
Hurray Kipp!
